3.15.09

Evelyn is nearly 5 months old and doing great! She's gaining weight like a champ and is actually on the growth charts now. Because she is gaining weight so well, she is off the special high-calorie formula and now on regular formula.

We're also allowed to take her out a bit more now, but because it is still RSV and flu season, we're keeping her away from crowded indoor places. But we have taken a few outings to the zoo and the botanical garden. Her official "coming out" will be for her baptism so...

MARK YOUR CALENDAR'S

We know that everyone who has followed this blog are friends and family and have been praying for Evelyn. We couldn't have gotten through this without you, so please join us for Evelyn's baptism on Sunday, April 19th at the 9:15 AM service at Mountain View Lutheran Church (48th St. and Elliot). We will also be having an open house following the service at our house, which you are all invited to come to as well. Just leave a comment or send us an email (so we can get a head count), and we'll be sure to get you directions if you need them.

One other update - because Evelyn is doing so well now, we thought it makes more sense to just have a family blog, so please follow us to: http://MooreFamilyAZ.blogspot.com/

Day 104, 02.01.09

First of all, I can't believe it's already February! Secondly, I can't believe the AZ Cardinals are in the Super Bowl today!!!

Evelyn continues to do great. She got her second round of Synagis (the RSV shot) this past week and at that appointment she weighed... 9 lbs 9 oz! CRAZY! She also started physical therapy to help with her neck issues. They said she has a very mild, atypical form of toricollis, so that's good. She does have a bit more of a flat head on the right side because of this, so now we have to really work at getting her to lay on her left side. Good luck to us! We also have some stretches we are supposed to do with her for her neck - similar to what we did with Chloe.

Evelyn is figuring out her days and nights... finally. She can go 5 hours at night between feedings now, so that's helpful. She's also having a lot more wakeful times during the day.
Here's Chloe giving Evelyn a little concert:

One more picture to make you non-Arizonans jealous... this was taken a couple nights ago just before dinner. Gotta love Arizona winters:

Day 89, 01.17.09

Happy New Year! It's been awhile since we updated the blog. Between Colette returning to work, the holidays, and our computer getting some virus/malware something or other, we just haven't had time. Thankfully we had everything backed-up so we didn't lose all our pictures and files. Phew!

Evelyn continues to do great! She went to the dr. for a regular check-up this past Thursday and she now weighs 8 lbs 6 oz and is 19.5 inches long! What a chunker! We're also getting excited because this coming Tuesday (01/20/09) is her original due date, and Wednesday (01/21/09) she will be 3 months old.

Just within the past week or so, Evelyn has started to act much more like a newborn baby. Meaning she is having more wakeful moments, and when she is awake, you can tell she's looking at things and processing things. Not just a blank stare.

She is really strong and is doing a good job lifting her head during tummy time and trying to push up with her arms. Evelyn continues to favor one side over the other and seems to have some tightness in her neck, so we will likely begin some physical therapy for that. We are a little more sensitive to these issues because Chloe had torticollis when she was little and ended up having to get a helmet and everything. So hopefully we can nip this in the bud and take care of it through physical therapy.

Let's see, what else has been happening... Not much! We seem to be really busy, and yet aren't doing much. ;-) Now that our computer is up and running again, we'll try to update the blog more regularly. We can't thank you all enough for all of your prayers and support. We continue to feel blessed and are just so thankful with how well Evelyn is doing.

Day 64, 12.23.08

Quick update - We've past our first parenting test with Evelyn. She is gaining weight! She is now up to 6 lbs 4 oz. She's gained 9 oz in the past 6 days. Yeah!!! She also got 4 shots and one oral vaccination at today's visit. She cried, of course, but quieted down pretty quickly. Phew.

Day 63, 12.22.08

Another busy day in the Moore household. Evelyn is doing really well and mom is sleeping better now that Evelyn is sleeping in her room now. I moved her out Friday night! That surprised even me! We kept Rebecca in our room for the first month and Chloe for at least a week or two. Evelyn only made it 3 nights. :-) I think she sleeps better on the mattress rather than the pack-n-play and I've angled the mattress slightly in her crib so I think she likes that better than sleeping completely flat on her back. Whatever works!

Her days are composed of eating, sleeping, peeing, and pooping. All good things! She is like clock work and will wake up to eat every three hours. She is taking 3 oz at each feeding and is a good eater.

She doesn't have too many wakeful moments. Although she was up for about an hour yesterday. Too bad it was 2:30 AM. Roger has been doing a great job (of course) taking care of all three girls. Busy days!

All things considered, she is acting just like a "normal" baby. She goes in to the dr. tomorrow for a regular check-up, so it will be fun to see how much she has gained since being at home. We got so used to having daily weights for her.
She loves to be held, so I've been using a homemade Moby Wrap to carry her around in when I'm home. It's just a long piece of fabric that acts like a front carrier. I wasn't sure I would use it, but she seems to like it and it still lets me do other things - like help Rebecca and Chloe, eat dinner, and update the blog. She's wrapped up right now. She's still too small for our Baby Bjorn, so for $7 worth of fabric, I have a front carrier that works for little Evelyn.

Day 58, 12.17.08

Quick update - Evelyn is doing great at home. Roger and I did not get much sleep last night. We were expecting to be up a lot with her because we figured we would be so worried about how she's doing and if she's still breathing, but that was not the case at all. We didn't get much sleep last night because Evelyn is apparently a noisy sleeper! Who knew! We had no problem feeling reassured she was doing okay. Now if only we can get some sleep tonight. Evelyn may be moved out of our room and into the nursery sooner than expected!

We'll count this as a blessing and stock up on coffee! ;-)

Rebecca and Chloe are excited to have Evelyn home. Roger said that Rebecca was a great helper today. When he asked Rebecca what she likes best about being a "double" big sister, Rebecca said she likes "taking care of baby Evelyn."

Thanks for your continued prayers. We couldn't have gotten through this without them.

Welcome Home! 12.16.08

Santa delivered an early Christmas present today! The hospital had Santa come and visit the babies in the NICU today so Evelyn got her picture taken.

We brought Evelyn home today and she is doing awesome. We are so happy to have her home now. Rebecca and Chloe are excited too.

Here are a couple more pictures from tonight...
